You can also see dolphins on our island and dolphin tours. This is where you can swim, fish, dive, search for shells and, if the conditions permit, snorkel in the protected waters to see a wide range of marine life.
Florida Vacations: Looking for a memorable, exciting experience? Panama City Beach Snorkeling & Dolphin Tours LLC provides more information about Shell Island snorkeling as well as dolphin tours. We hope to meet you soon!
If conditions allow, guests are welcome to get in the water when dolphins are nearby. Safety is always our first priority, and your captain will instruct you how to safely snorkel around marine mammals.
Private tours are available to reserve the entire boat only for you. This is your personalized tour. You can personalize your tour. Six guests max per private charter
After many years of watching dolphins in their natural habitats, our guides are well-versed in locating them and instructing our guests how to safely enter the water. You will be accompanied by your captain to snorkel alongside starfish, pufferfishes, welch cones, sanddollars and other sea creatures.
Species we frequently see include a variety of starfish, sand dollars, bay scallops, whelks, conchs up to 21” long, seahorses, urchins, and hermit crabs and other crab species. These animals can be brought to the surface, handled carefully, and photographed. We bring large containers so that even non-snorkelers can observe them up close before they’re released back into the bay. Shells found without living creatures can be taken home.
Do you want to arrange a private tour for your company? You can extend the time of your private dolphin tour up to 2 hours or 3 hours. This allows you to add more activities, such as additional snorkeling and island time. 6 people can each boat. Your captain will direct you on how to get in and see dolphins in their natural habitat. Next, you can take a guided snorkel tour around Shell Island to view the other marine life.
Our captains at Panama City Beach Snorkeling & Dolphin Tours LLC are highly skilled and experienced in spotting and interpreting the behavior and movements of dolphins. We will keep the boat in a safe place and tell you when to enter the water so that they can get closer to you.
We’ll get you as close to dolphins as we possibly can while also guaranteeing your safety and theirs. Ultimately, it’s up to the dolphins how close they want to get and how much they want to interact. We practice what we call “passive observation,” which means — in simple terms — that we let the dolphins come to us. Our dolphins in St. Andrews Bay are extraordinarily playful and interactive, though, and our guests frequently have amazing encounters they’ll remember the rest of their lives.
This was the highlight of our Florida vacation. We felt secure, enjoyed our trip, and also learned a lot. Captain Jack was kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating."
Our friendly, local captains have decades of experience on these waters and a wealth of knowledge about the area’s dolphins, manatees, and other marine life. They are always happy to customize your trip and love showing you the natural beauty of this unique place.

You can touch the dolphin's bellies and hold on to their pectoral fins while they swim around the lagoon. This is called "Belly Ride". The "Foot Push" is the last activity. However, you will be pushed while riding a boogieboard.
Shell island beach was visited twice by us. The first time we paid $7.50 to park on the "island". We drove a bit further along the coast to Llanddwywe, where we found a public parking lot. It is a beautiful, clean beach.
It takes twenty minutes. The ride up to the island takes twenty minutes. Seabirds are also common on the trip to Shell Key via the green ferryboat.
